2025 in Review: The Stories, Dogs, and Light That Shaped This Year
As the year winds down, I’ve been looking back at all the moments, people, and very good dogs who shaped this year’s storytelling. I thought it would be fun to do a recap of the year, not just for the numbers, but for what they represent. Every location chosen, every dog that trotted into frame, every sunrise we braved together… it all adds up to such a beautiful collection of memories.
Here’s a peek into some of my favorite behind-the-scenes stats from 2025:
✧ 37.5% increase in sunrise sessions – more early alarms and soft light that felt like it belonged only to us.
✧ 233% rise in downtown sessions – the city came alive this year with textures, skylines, and dogs who absolutely owned the pavement.
✧ 70% decrease in forest sessions – my once-most-popular spot took a backseat, and watching the shift in where people felt drawn might be my favorite part of this recap.
✧ Countless new dogs met – tails wagged, treats given, and approximately 100% of them were perfect.
✧ Location trends – waterfronts and open fields saw a major glow-up this year, bringing movement, wind, and wide-open storytelling vibes.
✧ Candid-to-posed ratio: still sky-high – the in-between moments continue to be where the magic lives.
This year reminded me that photography isn’t just about the images—it’s about the seasons we move through, the places we outgrow, the ones we circle back to, and the stories that root themselves in the in-between.
