Dog Photography That Doesn’t Require a Perfect Dog

I have good news: your dog does not need to know a single trick or command to have a great photo session. They don't need a perfect recall, a flawless sit-stay, or the ability to pose for the camera.

In fact, most of the dogs I photograph spend the majority of their session sniffing, exploring, getting distracted, playing, or generally doing whatever they feel like doing that day.

Whether your dog is energetic, shy, reactive, senior, goofy, anxious, food-motivated, or completely uninterested in listening, we can work with that.

My job isn't to make your dog perform. It's to create an experience where they can be themselves while I document the relationship you already have together.

What to Expect

✴︎ We work at your dog’s pace, always – Some dogs are ready to explore immediately and others need longer to warm up. No matter the dog, there’s never any rush, and I will never force a dog to do anything they do not want to do.

✴︎ Patience & Play – A lot of the best photos happen in between the “good” moments. My tried-and-true advice I give clients is to let go of all expectations and to simply come ready to have fun. Patience and releasing expectations will set you and your dog up for the most success.

✴︎ I’ll guide everything – You don’t need to worry about what to do with your hands, where to stand or where to go, or stress over whether your dog is cooperating. I’ll help with all of that. I’ll prompt interactions, suggest games, and never leave you guessing about anything.

✴︎ We take breaks when needed – Water breaks, sniff breaks, time to decompress. My sessions with dogs are curated with flexibility in mind.

Have a Reactive or Nervous Dog?

Me too! You are not alone, and you do not need to apologize for your dog.

Having a reactive dog myself, I know how dogs can feel overwhelmed by unfamiliar people, busy locations, or new environments. I take all of these factors into consideration with these dogs. I help dog parents choose quieter locations, ensure we are keeping plenty of distance from triggers/distractions, and create a session plan that works for your dog’s needs and comfort level.

If you’re worried your dog is “too much” for a photo session, reach out anyway. Chances are, I’ve worked with dogs very similar to yours.

Choosing the Right Location

The best location is the place where your dog can feel comfortable and can safely be themselves.

Open Fields – My field locations are tucked away in quiet areas, away from heavy foot traffic and distractions. These locations are a great option for dogs who can be off leash, or ones comfortable with a long-lead.

Forests & Trails – For the more active/adventurous dogs

Beaches, Creeks & Lakeshores – For the water-loving pups who live for a good swim.

Your Own Backyard – A familiar, comfortable place where their personality shines.

Not sure what location would work best? I’ll help you choose a location based on your dog’s personality, energy level, and comfort levels.
