Holding Space: Creating Affirming Photo Sessions for Queer Couples

This isn’t just about taking beautiful photos.

It’s about building a moment—a space—where you feel safe enough to be fully seen. Where your queerness is not just accepted, but celebrated. Where no one’s asking you to perform, prove, or tone anything down.

Because the truth is, for so many queer couples, being in front of the camera can feel… complicated. Vulnerable. Maybe even risky. I see that. And I’ve shaped every part of my process to hold space for the whole of you.

What “Holding Space” Really Means

To hold space is to make room. For joy. For uncertainty. For softness. For whoever you are that day. In practice, that looks like:

☾ Asking about pronouns before we even meet

☾ Inviting conversation about comfort levels, touch, and boundaries

☾ Offering time to warm up instead of jumping right in

☾ Letting your dynamic lead the session, not a pose list

☾ Listening more than I talk

My goal isn’t to just take photos of you. It’s to witness your connection with care, and help you feel at ease enough for your real self to come forward.

A Session Where You’re In Control

Many queer folks have had photos taken where something didn’t feel quite right—where the vibe was off, or assumptions were made, or they were asked to fit into someone else’s idea of what love “should” look like. Not here.

You’ll never be asked to play roles or hide parts of yourself. If something feels awkward, we’ll shift. If you need a break, we pause. You’re the one in charge of how your story is told.

Representation with Intention

Representation is powerful—but only when it’s grounded in respect and relationship. I don’t photograph queer couples to “add diversity” to my feed. I do it because I am a queer person who believes your story matters. Because I know how rare and healing it is to be seen, fully and tenderly.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time, the right person, the right energy—maybe this is it.

I’d love to hold space for you and your story, exactly as it is. Reach out whenever you're ready, and let’s make something soft, joyful, and deeply affirming.
